How far down the case should the flame be set for straight walled cartridge cases such as 45-70 or .357 Magnum?
Based on the videos, iIt appears to me that approximately 5/16" would work for 45-70 and maybe a touch under a 1/4 inch for cases like .357 and maybe a full quarter inch for something like .44 Mag or 45 Colt. Or, maybe the flame should be set so the annealing mark would be approximately where the end of the bullet would be inside the case when seated.
Thoughts?
